Frederick “Rick” Raymond Sutter was called home on November 6, 2017 due to injuries sustained in a motorbike accident.

He was born on February 26, 1943 in Rahway, New Jersey to Frederick Joseph Sutter and Marie Veronica Dutcher Sutter.

Rick was a graduate of St. Cecelia’s School, Woodbridge High School, and the University of Phoenix. He started his career as an electrician for the E.I. DuPont Company in New Jersey and retired as a safety administrator with Honeywell in Tempe, Arizona.

His life was devoted to volunteer work and among his proudest achievements was the work he did as a fireman and later as the fire chief of the Iselin Volunteer Fire Company #1 in his home state of New Jersey. After moving to Arizona in 1978 he has volunteered for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Posse, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Banner Baywood Hospital, and the Victim’s Services Unit of the Mesa Police Department. His last few years were spent as a volunteer photographer with the Mesa Police.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Sutter and his daughter Dawn Harvey. He is survived by his loving wife Susan and children Leigh Barlow (Benjamin), Frederick J Sutter, and Ronald Dye (Elizabeth). He leaves behind his adored grandchildren Kyle, Cole, and Caitlin Sutter; Kevin, Serenity, and Cheyanne Harvey along with their father Ken; Lexi, Hunter, Hayden, and Lincoln Dye; and great-grandson Sylas Harvey. He is also survived by his sisters Georgean Pichalski (Ted) and Marie Franchak as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life and graveside prayer on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 East Main St, Mesa, AZ 85207. There will be a viewing starting at 1:30pm and the service will follow at 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in Rick’s name are greatly appreciated.
