Passed Away on October 26, 2014


Gerald A. “Jerry” Rapp, age 93, passed away in Tempe, Arizona, on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Born February 23, 1921, in Aurelia, Iowa, to Edgar and Bess Rapp, he grew up in Iowa until joining the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. He married his high school sweet heart Donna Faye Lothian in Humboldt, IA on September 3, 1943. He finished his aviation training and was awarded his pilot’s wings in 1943. At the end of World War II, they settled in Arizona where he attended Arizona State University. After graduating with a business degree in 1950, he began a long career as a salesman and marketing representative. They moved to Wichita, KS in the 1957 before retiring and returning to the East Valley in 1989. Survivors include his children Terry, Miami, Fl; Steve, Las Vegas, NV: and Michelle Stewart, Wichita, KS; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Faye. A private interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery and a Celebration of Life Reception will follow at 4:00 pm, Monday, November 10th. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are welcome and can be made in his name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St, Phoenix AZ 85014 or Disabled American Veteran’s (DAV) Trust, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
