In Loving Memory

Harold Merlin Loge (Hank) 93 of Mesa, AZ passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023. Hank was born in Edgerton, Alberta Canada on April 6, 1929 to Henry and Belva (Moen) Loge. He had 2 older sisters Eunice and Verna. Hank grew up in Canada, Minnesota, and Washington State. He started working at a young age with his dad and his uncle in the logging business in Minnesota. The family moved to Washington when he was in High School and there he also began working for the railroad. After graduating from High School, Hank enlisted in the Air Force and served in Germany through most of his 4 years.

He met the love of his life Juanita Cecilia Colbert (Nita) while stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas and they married on October 5, 1953. They had 2 children, Harold Michael Loge and Nita Ann Loge.

After his service in the Air Force, Hank began working for Western Electric and AT&T as an electrical engineer. His work on satellites and missile sites took the family to several wonderful cities such as Pennsylvania, PA, El Paso, TX, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Succasunna, NJ, Santa Maria, CA, Cavalier, ND, and Mebane, NC.

After Hank retired at age 58, he and Nita moved to Arizona, first to Gilbert and then to Mesa. He enjoyed bowling, woodworking, yard work and his favorite pastime was building radios and being a Ham Radio operator. He connected with other operators in every continent. The map hanging in his “Ham Shack” has pins marking the hundreds of contacts he made throughout the world. Hank loved boxing and car races and he drove like he was Mario Andretti. He was a ‘Do It Yourself’ guy never asking for help but always willing to help others.

Preceding him in death was his wife Nita, who passed away in 2018, his parents, and his two sisters. Surviving family includes: Children Mike (Teresa) Loge, Andover MN; Nita (Ron) Muth, Mesa, AZ; Grand-children Rob (Lindsey) Muth, PA, Kari (Emerson) Ward, AZ, Jessica (Chris) Cejka, IA, and Rachel Ferrall, MN.
