Harry R. Reed passed away February 8, 2015 in Mesa, AZ. He was born January 15, 1924 in Bremerton, WA. Harry and his twin brother Howard grew up watching battleships being built in the Navy Yard and longed to go to sea. They both enlisted in January, 1941, served in and survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He also saw action in Midway, Guadalcanal, and the Aleutian Islands. On March 21, 1944 he married Helen Hoffman and had a daughter Sharon. After finishing his Navy service, the couple owned and operated a dry cleaning business in Mount Vernon, WA. After retiring they enjoyed square dancing and travel in their Airstream trailer and later their motorhome visiting many places in the US, Mexico and Canada. They built and lived in their log home in the Washington Cascades before settling in Mesa in 1995. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Helen, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Mike Rimmer, Eugene, OR, 2 grandsons, and 3 great-granddaughters. A memorial service will be held February 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa, AZ.
