Helen Vera Rush, 85, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2018 at Archstone Care Center in Chandler, AZ. She was surrounded by her family when she went to be with the Lord and meet her loving husband at the Gates of Heaven.
Helen was born June 10, 1933 in Baltimore City, MD., Margaret and Theodore Chaney. She grew up there and graduated from Clara Barton’s School for Women where she learned her vocation of being a seamstress.
Helen married the love of her life, Paul Gene Rush, May 11, 1952. They were happily married for 48 years until Paul’s passing in 2000. Helen was an Air Force wife who travelled with her family from Florida to California and Hawaii before moving to Glendale, AZ in April 1973.
Helen was a member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association and Calvary Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and served on the board of directors. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Helen is survived by her children Marc Alyn Rush, Paula (Marvin) Selby and Jerry (Patty) Rush. She was loved and will be missed by her 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at 9 am and Celebration Services will be held at 10 AM, July 12, 2018 at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 East Main St., Mesa, AZ. Private Interment will follow at the National Cemetery at a date not yet determined. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held for family and friends; to be announced at the end of the services.
