Irene “Rene” Vacca, 80, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 12, 2014 after an extended illness. Rene is survived by her husband John of 63 years, daughters Joyce (Alan) Mulkey of Apache Junction and TinaMarie (Gary) Brackett of Mesa; her sisters Shirley (Ken) Gamo of Mesa and Pat Rizzo of California; her granddaughters Christine (Lewis), Melissa (Brandon), and Deanna; her nephew Brian; great granddaughters Hope and Athena; and great grandsons Pete and Anthony. Irene Rizzo was born May 4, 1933 in Taylor, PA and grew up in Kearny, New Jersey. In 1977 Rene and John moved to California, and then in 1980 they moved to Mesa, Arizona where they both retired from Motorola. Her favorite pastimes included cooking, gardening, traveling, crocheting, and enjoying family gatherings. She will be missed by all. On March 14, 2014 a service was held at Mountain View Funeral Home in Mesa for family and friends. She was laid to rest on March 19, 2014.
