James Vinton VanHouten, born on July 22, 1939 in Battle Creek, Iowa to Ellen and Vinton Bruce VanHouten and passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 at the age of 86, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
James grew up in Battle Creek, Iowa and played basketball through high school. Went to Nebraska University, met and married Sandra Fozzard in 1959. Had two sons, Kevin James and Scott Aaron.
He was a dedicated Deacon, Elder and treasurer in church. His life work has been in Trucking and Repair business. After many years, he started his own Trucking and Repair Shop. In 2003, he built his own facility and eventually retired.
He was a devoted family man survived by his wife, Sandra, his son, Scott, three grandsons, Brandon, Hunter, and Tanner, sister, Colleen, sister-in-law, Lila and many nieces and nephews and a wide circle of extended family and friends and will be missed by all.
