Jean Mary Ann Falstad was born on June 30, 1923 in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Hoke and Lydia (Moser) Smith. She spent her early childhood there but moved to Balfour, ND when her mother married Walter Bradley. After graduating from Balfour High School, she received a scholarship to attend Minot State Teacher’s College, after which she taught school for one year. She moved to Ypsilanti, MI where she was employed at the Ford Motor Company’s Willow Run Bomber Plant. She married William R. Falstad and attended the First United Methodist Church while living in Ypsilanti. They raised two children Karen and Richard. She was later employed as the Secretary of the Music Department of Eastern Michigan University. After retirement, they moved to Mesa, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William, her parents, sister Dorothy Thoreson, and her grandson, Jonathan William Hyland.

Jean is survived by her daughter Karen and husband Casimir (KC) Kramarczyk; her son Richard Jay Falstad and wife Jenny; her sister Darlene; grandson Sean and wife Geraldine; great-grandchildren Christopher and Jennifer; and a parrot Casey.

Jean’s joyful and loving spirit will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Services will be 11:00 am Thursday March 2, 2017 at Mountain View Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ 85207.
