Jimmie Arthur Smith (Smitty), age 67, passed away on January 14, 2015 at Banner Baywood Medical Center. Smitty is survived by his wife Diannia Smith (Curt), his daughter and son-in-law Monique and Dan Chaon, his grandchildren: Dustin, Nathan, and Cierra Chaon; his sisters and brothers-in-law: Jacqueline and Jim Russell of Quincy, MI and Jill and James Kellum of Cookeville, TN, and JoAnn Mitchell of Chelsea, MI and many other family members mostly residing in Michigan. He is preceded in death by his brother Johnnie Smith and brother and sister-in-law Donald and Joan Wigent. Smitty was born on February 9, 1947 in Quincy, MI to parents Nellie and Harlow Smith, both deceased. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1965. Smitty married the love of his life, Curt, in 1966. They resided in Michigan for several years. In 1977, Smitty decided to follow his dream and he and Curt with daughter Monique moved to Scottsdale, AZ. Smitty used his skills as a Top Notch Salesperson and began his career in Boat Sales, he worked at Desert Boats, Tempe Marine, and Pro Bass Center. Throughout his career, Smitty met many people that immediately became friends. Smitty loved life in Arizona and lived it fully on his Patio in every home he had. He was a social, active man that would rather give than receive. He loved to have friends around him and was at home with everyone. Playing cards, telling stories, and talking politics kept his friends coming frequently. Smitty will be sorely missed by everyone that has been involved in his life. His family and friends will always remember his bright blue eyes, his strong nature, and his generosity. A celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
