John Wayne Barnett was born June 22nd, 1958, in Glen Dale, West Virginia. He passed away October 29, 2025, at home in Apache Junction, Arizona. He was 67 years old.
John was married to Jody Engelkes on June 25th, 1998. They spent 24 years together raising Michael and Crystal until Jody’s passing September 9th, 2012. John was preceded in death by wife Jody, parents Twyla and Fred Barnett, and sister Peggy Ott.

John is survived by son Michael and Joann (wife) Smith, daughter Crystal and Lisa (wife) Smith. Grandchildren Kalee and Aaron (husband) Wensley, Brendan Smith, Zane Smith, and Keira Smith. Great Grandchildren Grayson and Jackson Wensley. Sisters Victoria and Robert (husband) Miller, Rhonda and Tracy (husband) White, and nephews and friends.
John worked as a Facility Technician Supervisor for over 25 years in the Aerospace Industry. John enjoyed being outdoors hiking and looking for arrowheads. He loved restoring his antique Jeeps (Willies). He loved his dogs, as well as feeding the birds and bunnies. His most proud accomplishments were raising Michael and Crystal.

We celebrate his life and his accomplishments. Know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made with them. Memories that will be cherished for years to come.
