Judith Ellen Gereg

February 28, 1943 – December 25, 2022


Judith E. Gereg, age 79, of Momence, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022.  She is survived by her husband of 59 years Steve Gereg; children Lori (Dan) Oxley, Steve (Shawnna) Gereg, Lisa Gray, and Judy (Bob) Siegler; four granddaughters; four grandsons; three great grandchildren; and her beloved dog Snowy.  Judith was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Nancy Olsen, and sister Paula.

She was born in Chicago and attended Austin High School. Following High School, she followed in her mother’s footsteps in nursing where Judy first attended the nursing program at St. Ann’s hospital in Chicago. She later transferred her credits to Gateway Community College where she completed her nursing degree, going on to serve as Director of Nursing at Chula Vista Nursing home for 10 years. Judy was very proud when her granddaughter Jessica received her nursing degree, being the 4th generation of nurses in the family. Judy was also proud of her three daughters receiving graduate degrees and her son being a retired paramedic and fireman in Apache Junction.

Judith will be laid to rest in Mesa, Arizona at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery on January 16, 2023.

 

Judith was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was passionate in her love for the River Valley Animal Rescue (RVAR).  She was a board member there and spent countless hours volunteering. Judith was a wonderful friend who generously helped others through very tough times. She will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to RVAR in Judith’s honor.
