Karl Alyn Brown, 76, of Mesa, AZ, passed away surrounded by family on November 2, 2022
after a 4 year fight with dementia.
Karl was born on July 13, 1946 to Preston and Rogenia Brown of Littlestown, PA, the sixth of
eight children. After graduating Littlestown High School, he went on to study chemical
engineering at Penn State University belonging to Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity and graduating in
1969. He was hired by Dupont as a chemical engineer and further honed his knowledge over
the following 17 years. This experience enabled him to take over and facilitate the growth of
Penn United Industries electroplating department. His success in the plating industry opened
the door to him leading a ground up construction and design of a state of the art plating
division for OBerg Industries in Chandler Az.
In 1963, he met his high school sweetheart and love of his life Linda Louise Blocher. They wed
July 13, 1969 and went on to have two daughters Jamie and Jennifer. They enjoyed all that life
had to offer. After retirement in 1999, Karl spent his days enjoying his numerous hobbies and
spending time with his family. His grandson Preston was his man in training and was
instrumental, leading by example, in raising and passing on his knowledge and kindness to
him. Karl saw a lot of himself in Preston and enjoyed witnessing him grow into a capable young
man. He was a firm believer in honesty and working hard for the things you want. Karl also
enjoyed attending his granddaughters softball games and watching her grow into an amazing
young lady.
Karl was and avid hunter, bicyclist and a true outdoorsman. He was very passionate about
every thing he did in his life. He enjoyed hunting virtually any animal you could eat and serving
it up for his family to enjoy. He was a master chef and made everything taste amazing. During
his last few years of hunting he achieved a lifetime goal of harvesting a bear from Camp
Running Bear located in Elk County in Northern Central PA.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Charles and Terry, his sisters Shirley,
Joyce, and Peggy and his beautiful wife Linda. Surviving are his sister Carolyn (Ed) Sigler,
brother Daniel (Sandy) Brown, Daughters Jamie (Doug) Roessing, Jennifer (Edward) Lorts,
hunting buddy and pal grandson Preston Villarreal and granddaughter Emma Lorts.
Karl led a life of integrity, a life very well lived. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him
especially his two doting daughters.
