Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Kent Lee Kinnaird

Passed Away on November 2, 2017

Kent Lee Kinnaird, 45, died on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, from heart complications.

Kent was born at Southside Hospital on March 12, 1972, in Mesa, Arizona, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Red Mountain High School in 1990, spent a short time in the U.S. Navy, became a father in 2004, married in 2007, and worked in petroleum maintenance.

Kent enjoyed sports as a youth and throughout his life would reflect upon lessons learned from his coaches. He had an infectious charm about him, which anyone who ever met him could attest. He loved getting together with family and grilling steaks. He enjoyed good conversations, the company of family and friends, and a cold air-conditioned home after a long day of work during hot summers. He loved dipping his hand into a bowl of M&M candies and his mother’s fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies; as a child he most likely consumed more of the cookie dough than the actual cookies. He carried on that tradition and often would bake chocolate chip cookies for Katelyn. Kent was a loyal friend to many, a hard worker, fierce protector of his family and pronounced to his daughter every day that he “loved her to the moon and back.”

Kent is survived by his wife and daughter, Cindy and Katelyn Kinnaird. He is also survived by his mother and father, Mary and Earl L. Kinnaird; his brother, Bryan J. Kinnaird and family, and his sister, Meribeth Johnson, and her family. He had four nieces and two nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends.

Memorial and burial services for Kent were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 10, at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona. Bishop Michael Rapier of the LDS church officiated, and Bryan J. Kinnaird eulogized and presented a tribute film celebrating Kent’s life available at https://youtu.be/ehRAHgVTWlY

Services were presided over by Funeral Director Lee Bueler.

Honorary pallbearers; Bryan J. Kinnaird, Earl L. Kinnaird, Derek Blake, David Johnson, Edward O. Stevens, Stephen A. Carson, Jesse Burcham, Roger Bradley

  6. Rob Gresser says:

Kent, I remember the first time I met you during the pre-school football practices. We were all trying to figure how to get people from three different schools, two of which hated each other, to survive the year. You were one of the people who worked to unite all of us as Mountain Lions. I wish I had had a chance to speak to you more or see you more as the years, but life and all of those things drove us in different paths. We talk about wanting to be remembered for the type of life we lived. Kent, you lived a wonderful life and that is shown by the memories expressed y your friends and family. I will keep your family in my prayers that they find healing during this time and know that you were an angel here on earth, albeit a mischievous one :), before you became one in heaven. Please rest easy!!!!!

  12. Bryan Kinnaird says:

He was definitely a “one-of-a-kind” angel on Earth, now doing it “by the playbook” up above.

  13. Bryan Kinnaird says:

    Those were good times…

  14. Colleen Ball says:

Well, my favorite memories of Kent were at Aunt Judy’s house for our holiday family get togethers. You chased us girls down the basement stairs more times than I could count and threatened to throw me in the pond! You lurked in dark corners of the backyard and scared the crap outta me several times. So basically you terrorized me like any good cousin does, ha. We’ll meet again and maybe I’ll deliver payback. Love you Kent.

  15. Bryan Kinnaird says:

    Good times!

  16. Bryan Kinnaird says:

I leave notes at your grave from time to time and also stop by this page. I see nothing new but trust you’ll never be forgotten by your family and close friends. Katelyn is doing well! Love ya, bro!

  18. Mary Kinnaird says:

Missing our son. Miss seeing you pull up in the driveway in your truck. ??
