Margaret Jean Allison, born March 1, 1930, passed from this life to eternal life with Jesus in the early morning hours of Sunday August 26, 2012. Her husband Jim passed only 8 months earlier. They were married for 59 years. Margaret, known to all as Peggy, was born in Havre, Montana, the eldest of five children. She is survived by her brothers Bud and Bobby, her children Lonnie (Marie), Rande (Susan), and Sandy (Randy Erickson), 8 grandchildren, Katie (Luke) Ostrom, Ryan, Tara, Courtney and Eric Allison, Michael and Mark Kwiatkowski, Travis Erickson, and one great grandchild, Hailey Ostrom. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve. Jim and Peg lived in Mesa, AZ for the last 30 years and enjoyed their summers with their many friends, in Show Low. She was a devoted homemaker and mother throughout the growing years of the children, first, in Montana, then Indiana, a brief time in Spokane Washington, and for most of the family years in the San Francisco region. After raising the children, she went to work serving in school kitchens, in the role of “baker”. She enjoyed serving the children, even her own high school student and son, Rande. Peggy loved to go to church and bible studies, read, play pinochle, visit and be visited by friends, travel, dance with Jim, and hear stories of her grandchildren. She was a care-giver extraordinaire, and gave selflessly the last 15 years to a dying sister, her mother, her father, and for the last few years to her beloved husband Jim. On the day she had her tragic fall and was being placed in the helicopter to rush to the hospital her words to her son on the phone were, “are you alright”. This was our mom. When friends and family describe her they use words and phrases like, “a grand Lady”, “stylish”, “sweetest person in the world”, “always positive”, “full of grit”, “most giving person imaginable”, “a peacemaker”, “responsible”, “salt of the earth.” She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The pain of our loss is at times unbearable. But her hope in life eternal with her Lord Jesus Christ, sustains them in this time. She is now in the place where there are no tears, no sorrows, no death and no goodbyes. She and Jim are as one grandchild says, “dancing on the streets of heaven”. A memorial service for family and friends will be held Saturday September 1, at 1:00pm at the Broadway Christian Church, 7335 E. Broadway Rd., Mesa, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Billy Graham Center, 501 College Ave., Wheaton, Illinois, 60187.
