Margaret Lucille “Lu” Andrews Beaulieu 83, of Mesa, AZ, passed away October 24, 2010. Lu was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a multi-talented artist who shared her gifts as an inspired singer of opera and cherished hymns; as a painter of oil and watercolor landscapes; and as a needle worker with coveted knitted and crocheted hats, afghans, and Christmas card box holders. Lu was born in Hollywood, FL on April 5, 1927. She attended the Arizona State Teachers College/ASU, and graduated with a B.A. in Education on May 31, 1960. As a young woman, she appeared in leading roles in numerous ASU Lyric Opera and Phoenix Little Theater productions. She had a 20-year career as a teacher in academics, music and art in the Tempe Elementary and Balsz School Districts. After retirement, she opened the Lu’tique Art Store and Studio in the Arroyo Hermoso Shopping Center she and her husband, William “Bill” Andrew Beaulieu, developed in Apache Junction, AZ. There, she exhibited her artwork, and that of other artists, and taught guitar. She shared her joy for music and the Lord Jesus as the music director for the First United Methodist Church, and Desert Chapel Methodist Church. Lu was married for 58 years to Bill, who preceded her in death on September 15, 2005. She is survived by son John (Paula) Beaulieu, daughter Cynthia (Michael) Searcy, daughter Andrea Beaulieu, and daughter Roxane (Woody) Rogers, seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, and one on the way. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E Main St., Mesa, AZ 85207, 480-832-2850.
