Mark Alan Berndsen, 59 died on February 18, 2010 at his home in Mesa, AZ after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born February 10, 1951 in Wichita, KS to Martin and Louise (Ricken) Berndsen. He was a Captain of the Sedgwick County Fire Department for 27 years till his retirement in 2003. After moving to Mesa, he worked for Loomis Fargo Carrier as a ATM Tech and Diebold as a Technician. Mark is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kirsten Striegel McGregor, his sons Matthew (Ed) Berndsen, and Michael (Kami) McGregor of Mesa, grandson Ashdon Denton-Berndsen of Mesa and his beloved dog Shadow; his brother Stephen (Zita) Berndsen of Wichita, KS, sisters Sharon (Steve) Allen of Wichita, KS, Rebecca (David) Hart of Cheyenne, WY and Anne (Eddie) Stroupe of Ripley, MS as well as a large extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Louise Berndsen, mother-in-law Mary Ann Striegel and son Shawn Berndsen. Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 24th at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E Main Street, Mesa AZ. A service in Wichita is pending.
