Marvin E. Laubhan, 89, of Sun Lakes, AZ passed into eternity on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Marvin was born on June 16, 1924 in the farming/ranching community of Follett, TX, the only son of Alex and Louise Laubhan and the youngest of three siblings. The family moved to El Dorado, KS, in the mid 1930’s, farming and ranching there until late 1950’s. After graduating from El Dorado (KS) High School in 1942, Marvin spent the war years farming with his father to “feed the troops”. After WWII, he farmed for several years and then pursued a series of small business ventures in El Dorado and Augusta, KS. In 1948, Marvin married Elizabeth (Libby) Jay. They remained married until Elizabeth’s passing in 2007. In 1957, Marvin and Libby moved to Wickenburg, AZ with 3 children of their marriage: Chestine, Connie, and David. They commenced to establish a number of antique, used goods, and furniture businesses that spanned the next 40 years. Marvin was well known among East Mesa businessmen and women as the co-founder of “Grandpa’s Trading Post”, an Apache Trail Icon. Marvin was preceded in death by his spouse of almost 60 years, Libby, and is survived by his six children: Gerald (Dona) Laubhan of Petersburg, AK, Patsy (Gene) McAdam of Wichita, KS, Sandy (Robert) Hurd of Derby, KS, Chestine (Jim) Gosnell of Chandler, AZ, Connie (Richard) Betten of Tucson, AZ and David (Susan) Laubhan of Arcadia, FL. A private, graveside service is planned by the family.
