In Loving Memory of Melanie Kay Smith.
Melanie Kay Smith was born in Midland, Michigan, to George and Ruth Siegrist. In 1952, she and her family moved to Arizona, where she grew up alongside her beloved sisters—Ruth Ann, Barb, and Beverly. She graduated from Phoenix Unified High School, and soon after, she met the love of her life, Richard Smith. They married on December 1, 1963, building a lifetime of love and devotion.
Melanie worked in the electrical department at Roger’s Corporation for many years before dedicating herself to her family as a homemaker. She embraced life’s simple pleasures—Mexican food, Pepsi, and her daily ritual of watching *The Price Is Right*. But above all, she had a fierce and boundless love for her family, always putting them first and making the world brighter with her kindness.
On June 1, 2025, at the age of 80, Melanie passed with her family by her side, surrounded by love and warmth.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 61 ½ years, Richard, her daughters Michelle (Ron) and Becky (Craig), her beloved grandchildren—Michael (Rachel), Blaine (Tanna), Dakota (Kacie), Lacey (Jacob),Brian , and Catalina (Jake)—and her treasured great-grandchildren Madison, Alex, Brook, Brynleigh, and Reese. She is also survived by her beloved sisters Ruth (Kenneth) D’Arcangelo, Barb, and Beverly. Though she will be deeply missed beyond words, her legacy of love and warmth will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Final care was made by Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery located at 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, 85207.
Melanie was our neighbor for many years in Gold Canyon on Del Monte. Her grandsons Mike and Blain hung out with our boys. Melanie was a real kind, sweet lady. RIP Melanie. Go soar with the angels.
I miss my mom everyday.😔she was such a beautiful woman and the best mom a daughter could ever ask for. She lived a tough life riddled with many illnesses. But you would never know, she always had smiles for everyone, she was always laughing and smiling. My life will not be the same without her.
I will always love you mom♥️🥰🤗
