Paul Lonero, age 86 of Sun Lakes, AZ passed away on Sat, March 26th, 2022. Paul passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife Barbara and family, after his courageous battle with cancer.

Paul was born in Pittsburgh, PA. on June 17th, 1935 to the late Samuel and Teresa (Crisafio) Lonero. Paul loved golfing, playing cards, remodeling homes, and traveling and he delighted in his warm and loving Italian heritage. Paul never met a stranger and was always willing to offer a helping hand whenever needed.

Paul was proud to have served in the United States Coast Guard. While serving, he had tours of duty on icebreakers going to the North Pole and was involved in the installation of the Distant Early Warning line during the Cold War. After his tour of duty he returned to Pittsburgh, PA. where he became a tool and die maker and business owner. Paul moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1983. He founded and operated Lone Arrow Enterprises. The company sold and serviced CNC machinery and sandblasting parts and equipment to the Valleys aviation industry, including Honeywell.

Although Barbara and Paul had both lived in Dobson Ranch, in Mesa, AZ and both owned businesses located within a short distance of each other in the 1980’s, their paths did not cross until 1992 when they both attended a Pinochle Club to play one of their favorite games. As the saying goes, it was “Love at First Sight.” The next 30 years was an amazing adventure we shared. Paul’s quality of life was good to the very end and he lived every day of his life to the fullest.

Paul is survived by his wife Barbara, of Sun Lakes and daughter Terri Aglietti (Eric), Sons Michael (Sally), Sam (Darlene), Paul (aka PJ), Rick, his sister, Josephene Risoleo, all reside in the Pittsburgh, PA area. His 2 step-sons Tony (Melissa) and Derek (Allie) Herndon of Mesa, AZ. 8 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, nephews, and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his ex-wife, the beloved mother of his 6 children, Joan (Ecoff) Lonero, his son Kurt Paul, his grandchildren Laura and Alex, brother Anthony and brother-in-law James Risoleo. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

We want to acknowledge the wonderful and caring treatment Paul received from Dr. Dharia and staff at Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers in Mesa, AZ. and the unbelievable loving help and assistance the Hospice of the Valley provided Paul and our family. Also we send our heartfelt thanks to our friends and neighbors who have reached out with their prayers and loving words and acts of kindness.

Anyone wishing may make a donation, in Paul’s memory, to the American Cancer Society http://www.cancer.org/ or to Hospice of the Valley https://www.hov.org/donate.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Paul, the time and location will be announced at a later date.

  3. Terri Lonero says:

“A limb has fallen from our Family Tree that says grieve not for me….Remember the best times, the laughter , the song, the good life I lived while I was strong “. My Dad will be truly missed by his family and friends. I will cherish all the memories and value the qualities my Dad instilled in me. Although there were many miles between us, we remained close and I treasure our many many phone calls. I was by your side in death and will see you again in heaven. Barbara I am so sorry for your loss.

  4. Dale Rice says:

I first met Paul in July of 1988 and we have been very close friends ever since we would talk for hours, nearly everyday since.
We had so much in common in our personal lives that we could share.
Even our careers in the Machine Tool industry and we could share our experiences both good and bad.
I miss him greatly and cherish those moments to this very day. I had a chance to see him prior to his passing away. It was difficult to see such a honorable great and wonderful loving person in such horrible pain. He was a true friend carrying and understanding and not being able to help him overcome his illness was heartbreaking.
The best part of his passing is that he’s out of pain and with God thy father.
God bless Barbara his wife his family and his friends and he will be greatly missed by all of us.

We will greatly miss (Paul Paul) as my 4 boys called him. We have so many wonderful memories of holidays and vacations spent together, and the innocent trouble Paul would often find himself in (very Larry David at times). We laugh hard when we talk about so many of those great times but what I will remember Paul for the most is the happiness and joy he brought to my mother. Love and miss you Paul.
