With profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother, Peggy Nadine Smith.  Peggy passed away peacefully on November 3, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones.

Peggy was born on November 10, 1934 in Eaton, Indiana and moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1960.

In the early part of her life, Peggy was a beautician but then took a break to devote her time and energy to raise her girls and care for aging family members, including her parents.  After the children were grown, Peggy decided to return to work, spending 20 years as a Wal-Mart Greeter until she retired in 2013. Her role as a greeter was as perfect for Peggy, as she was for it.  Peggy always had a smile on her face and enjoyed welcoming their customers, as they often stopped just to chat with her.

Peggy was a dedicated mother first and foremost and she treasured her children and grandchildren.  The way she led her life, she showed us the value of hard work and being on time, but most importantly, she taught us the importance of loving God and putting the needs of others before your own.  Peggy took great pride in her home and yard, and she loved to garden.  Her happiest moments included the yearly blooming of her many Iris beds.  It was not unusual for folks to stop and take pictures of her flowers, often asking for her advice on how to grow their own.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Mable, her brother Herbert L, and her beloved Canine Companion, Amanda.

Peggy is survived by her children Robin, Sandra, Pamela, and son-in-law Ralph, nine grandchildren, Matt and his wife Lisa, Kristen, Ashley, Missy and her husband Anthony, Megan, Katelyn, Mackenzie, Sean, and Ryan, three great grandchildren, Carson, Tighe, and Bella, and her many cousins, all of whom she loved and touched deeply.

Peggy’s celebration of life will be Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery, 7900 East Main Street, Mesa. Visitation will be from 1:00PM – 2:00 PM, immediately followed by the service and internment.
