Ray passed away in his home in Mesa, Arizona on January 25, 2015.

Ray was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 12, 1934. He moved to Mesa in 1953 and was stationed at Williams Air Force Base. He met his wife Laraine Nasser and was married for over 43 years before Laraine passed. He is survived by his daughter Tammy Johnston (Raffe) and Greg Bryan (Lisa) and 6 grandchildren: Shay, Austin, Cody, Gregory, Tiffany, and J.D. He also has 3 great-grandchildren: Lainey, Reagan and Beau with great-grandson Layle on the way. Ray has a sister Donna Clark of Texas.

While Ray was in the service he helped design the ejection seat for the fighter jets. When he retired from the service, he worked for Talley Industries and TRW where he helped design the airbags for the automobiles before he retired.
