Raymond Mayer Rich, 86, passed away February 2, 2013 in Mesa, AZ. He was born in Manderson, WY, April 27, 1926, the eldest son of Leland Martin and Eva Mayer Rich. He was raised on his father’s sheep and cattle ranch where he learned to be strong and self-reliant. He joined the Navy during WWII and served in the South Pacific, but his heart forever remained in Wyoming. His career was in electronics. He was a civilian employee of the Army, retiring as the Director of Quality Assurance at Tooele Army Depot in Utah. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Ann Dowsett, whom he married March 5, 1966 in Salt Lake City, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was the father of six children: Teri Morris, Lorrie Munson, Joleen Evans, Raymond M. Rich Jr., Edward Rich and Monte Alan Rich. He was the loving step-father of Charlotte Cammans, Colby Cammans and Gaylynn Crosby. He had 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. An active member of the LDS Church, he served in many callings especially with the youth, in athletics, and priesthood leadership spending many hours of service to the church. He was an amateur radio operator, and loved to square dance, snow ski and water ski with the family and friends. He was a friend to everyone he met and always a leader. He will be forever missed by his wife and family. Visitation will be held Thursday February 7 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ and one hour prior to the services on Friday February 8, 2013, 10:00 am at the Eastridge Ward, 3025 S. Hawes Rd, Mesa, AZ.
