Rebecca Saldana

September 6, 1923 – November 5, 2022


Rebecca Saldana passed away peacefully in Apache Junction, Arizona on November 5, 2022 with loving family by her side.

 

Rebecca was born on September 6, 1923 in Harlingen, Texas.  Her late parents were Guadalupe S. Vallejo, Sr. and Maria.  On her father’s side, she had three half-brothers—Guadalupe S. Vallejo, Jr., Isauro Vallejo, Raul Vallejo and two half-sisters—Clementina De Leon and Diamantina Rodriguez.  On her mother’s side, she had three half-brothers—Enoch San Miguel, Noe San Miguel, Nick San Miguel, and three half-sisters—Sara Smith, Rachel San Miguel, and Noemi Acosta.

 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Ruben on July 22, 2011.  On August 3, 1940 they married in Brownsville, Texas.  Their first home was in Harlingen, Texas where a daughter and son were born in 1942 and 1943.  They later relocated to Galveston, Texas in 1950.

 

In 1952 they moved to Superior, Arizona and soon her husband, Ruben, got a job at the open-pit mine in Kearny, Arizona and Rebecca was a stay-at-home mom.  In Superior they had another son and daughter.

 

In 1971 they moved to Apache Junction, Arizona where Rebecca worked at Sprouse-Reitz for about four years.  She was very active in her church and enjoyed spending time at the senior center.  Rebecca was dedicated to her family, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

 

Rebecca is survived by two sons—Raul (Eva), Ruben, and two daughters—Alice (John) and Lydia and four half-siblings—Raul Vallejo, Diamantina Rodriguez, Rachel San Miguel, and Noemi Acosta.  Rebecca was very blessed with nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by an interment at her graveside.
