Richard “Rick” Lee Schirato

January 8, 1944 – October 21, 2018


Richard “Rick” Lee Schirato, born in Chicago, Illinois on January 8, 1944, passed away in his Mesa, Arizona home on October 21, 2018. He joins his beloved wife Beverly JoAnne Gillette Schirato (2006) in the afterlife.

A lover of the ponies, political debate and Camel unfiltereds, Rick was a Vietnam era veteran and retired steelworker whose lighthearted outlook on life, striking blue eyes and boisterous laugh will always be remembered by those who loved him. In his youth he was an avid participant in Chicago Park District Athletics, winning many awards in boxing, diving and swimming. Rick earned money as a country club caddy receiving top honors for his talents. Ever the sportsman, if not earning on the links, he would be picking up scratch at the pool hall or friendly card game.

Son to Helen and Michael Schirato. Brother to Carole McKiddin, Lawrence, Ronald and Diana Schirato, Karen Riccio, Barbara Arellano and Cheryl Correa. Father to Dannielle D. Berry, William H., Richard L., and Darrell A. Schirato. Grandfather to Jessica Juene, Bennie and Nicole Berry, Heather, Jessica, Zach and Devon Schirato, Marcus Gutierrez, Keegan and Mason Schirato, Dillon, Dakota and Dominick Schirato. Great-grandfather to Kyle and Kayson Juene and Mia Schirato. Uncle and friend to many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11am on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Mountain View Funeral Home 7900 East Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85207. To be interned at 1:30pm at the National Memorial Cemetery at 23029 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024 Cave Creek, Arizona.
