On August 1, 2019, Rihana Schiro, 32, passed away in a fatal traffic accident. Rihana was born on November 17, 1986, in
Metairie, Louisiana. She moved to Mesa, AZ with her family in 1992. Rihana attended Red Mountain High School and Arizona State University and went on to graduate from the University of Virginia Law School. After passing the bar exam in Arizona, Rihana was considering a career in school law. A talented teacher, she worked as a tutor for students of all ages in subjects ranging from basic reading skills to history, political science, writing, math, and preparation for SAT and law exams.
Traveling the world as a young, independent adult, Rihana was eager to learn about other countries and cultures. She studied at the University of Ghana for her senior year, worked as an intern for the United Nations (UN) in Sierra Leone, and taught English to students from Kindergarten to 12th grade in South Korea. During the years she was overseas, she visited China, Bangladesh, Norway, Germany, and many other countries, making new friends everywhere she went.
Rihana is survived by her loving parents, Steve and Theo Schiro, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also her beloved greyhound Matilda and little Percy, a chirpy Green Conure. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life for family and friends will be held from 1:00 – 3:30 on Saturday, August 17 at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main St. in Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers, Rihana would appreciate donations to the National Greyhound Adoption Program.
Rihana was a generous, kind person, the world was a better place with her in it. So so so sorry she is gone, way too soon. You will live on in my heart, Rihana.
I loved reading this. I am heartbroken with you. Love and prayers.

We are so sorry for your loss. Our family knew Rhiana through our son Matt Morrow and their friend Rachael Federico.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Rihana and Joss were both such fun children – it is hard to imagine the world without their light.

A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.”
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song,
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul’s is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue tradition, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we’re together again.
Sending our love and heartfelt condolences on this very special memorial day for Rihana.
