Rita G Romo, 99, of Chandler, AZ, passed away peacefully at her home on Feb 26, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 21, 1921 in Tucson, AZ to Maria and Leonides Gomez and attended school in Nogales, AZ. Rita lived in Kearny until she moved to Chandler with her daughter and son-in-law, Sylvana and Julian. Rita worked for Ray District Schools for 35 years as a secretary and later as secretary to the guidance counselor. She was also Pioneer Day Grand Marshal one year. She touched many lives. She helped raise many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was affectionately known by some grandchildren as “Nana Momo”. She loved to garden, go out to eat and loved watching the Lawrence Welk Show. Our lives and hearts will never be the same. Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus “Chito” Romo; brothers, Emiliano and Pedro Gomez; son, Emilio Flores and granddaughter Susan Rubal. Rita will be dearly missed by her children, Rudolph Flores, Norma F. (Richard) Celis and Sylvana R. (Julian) Acevedo; grandchildren Albert, Erika and Rudy (Yvette) Flores, Teresa Gonzales, Leonard (Ofelia) Hernandez, Brandon (Beth Ann) Hernandez, Stephanie (Mario) Celis, Christy Acevedo, Julian Acevedo Jr. and Jennifer Acevedo; 20 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. It is Rita’s wishes that there be no services.
