Robert E. (Bob) Updike. Sunday, May 9, 2010, the soul and spirit of Bob Updike flew joyfully to unite with his Creator and Savior in Heaven. Born August 8, 1932 in Newcastle, WY, Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Dorothy, of Mesa, AZ; sons Dan (Cathie) of Gillette, WY, Tom (Paulette) of Riverton, WY, Mick of Mesa, AZ and Ken (Cathi) of Oelrichs, SD; brother Bud (Dorothy) of Casper, WY; sister Mary of Queen Creek, AZ; 12 grandchildren, including Robyn (Victor) Cassinelli, who has faithfully cared for her grandparents over the past several years; and 13 grandchildren. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Updike, formerly of Newcastle, WY. Raised in northeastern Wyoming, Bob spent his entire working life in the oil fields, and retired to AZ in late 1992. In 2000, he and Dorothy moved to the Las Palmas community where he spent many happy hours playing pool and cards with his numerous friends in the community. Services will be Friday May 14, 2010 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ at 10:30 am.
