Robert Henry Husted, 97, of Villa Park, IL and St. Augustine, FL, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Prescott, AZ. He was born in Omaha, NE, on May 26, 1920 to Christian and Mary Husted.
Mr. Husted was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, affectionately called ‘Grandpa Bob’ by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a happy and fun spirited man who had a positive attitude about life and a smile for everyone. His favorite line was “Life is what you make it” and his laugh was contagious. He served 3 1/2 years in the Army, and then later built a successful sheet metal/HVAC business that he started in his garage servicing the Chicago area for over 25 years. One of his favorite things to do was play cards. He also enjoyed antique shopping, collecting coins and stamps, bowling, playing the stock market, and nickel beer on Tuesdays. Mr. Husted retired in 1982, moved to Arizona for a few years, then to St. Augustine, FL for the past 25 years. Recently, he returned to Arizona. Mr. Husted was blessed to be married to three wonderful women.
He was predeceased by all three wives, Helen, Elsie (35 years), and Marcy (25 years). He is also preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings. Robert is survived by his son, Gary Husted; step-daughters, Nancy Stewart and Mary Lou Wojda; step-sons, Tom and Tim McGuire; 6 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren. Dad, Grandpa, Bob will be missed by all. We are thankful for his legacy of what it looks like to live a full life and see the good in everything.
Services for Mr. Husted will be help on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, Arizona 85207.
