Robert Joseph Chapman was born in Hartford, Illinois on January 10, 1933. He passed from this earthly life on September 18, 2018.

As a young man he loved baseball and was called up to one of the St. Louis Cardinal’s farm teams when he was only 16 years old. Baseball didn’t pay much back then and he decided to take a job in a factory to help support his family. His love for the game endured and he coached many softball teams for churches of which he was a member. He also greatly enjoyed playing basketball.

In 1951 Robert graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 4 years during the Korean War. He was deployed on the U.S.S. Atlas, the U.S.S. Hancock and the U.S.S. Montrose. He also served 4 years in the Naval Reserves. His training as an electronics technician came in handy and he procured a job in that industry where he worked for most of his adult life eventually owning his own company, Chapman and Associates, Inc.

On September 4, 1953, he married Peggy Darlene Elmore. They had been married 65 years and 2 weeks when the Lord called him home. Robert and Peggy had 2 children, Laura Ann Coleman and John Randal Chapman. Robert is survived by his wife Peggy, his 2 children, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a brother James Chapman and a sister Joyce Beleele.
