In Loving Memory of Robert Meyer

With gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the memory of Robert Meyer, who passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, with his wife by his side.

He leaves behind a legacy of friendship, laughter, kindness, and countless cherished memories shared by those who knew and loved him.

Born on November 7, 1945, in Jackson, Minnesota, Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force and the Minnesota Air National Guard, a commitment that remained a source of great pride throughout his life.

After his military service, he built a life marked by hard work, friendship, and a willingness to help others. He was known as the “handiest handyman”—the person everyone could count on when something needed fixing or when a helping hand was needed. He gave his time generously and was always there for the people who needed him.

Robert loved the simple pleasures in life and treasured the experiences he shared with family and friends. Among his favorite times were traveling with his wife, including following the South Dakota State Jackrabbits to sporting events, taking beautiful cruises, and enjoying a very special trip to Switzerland. He also cherished his time working at the Vermillion Dam Lodge in northern Minnesota, where he formed lasting friendships and created many wonderful memories. He loved playing cards, bocce ball, and spending time with his friends at Fountain of the Sun, joining them for “happy hour” almost daily to enjoy their good company. He especially looked forward to the winter months in Arizona, when many friends would return and they would reconnect over card games and dinners out. Robert had a way of bringing energy and humor to every gathering and was often the life of the party. His laughter, generosity, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed.

He was a beloved husband to Pat Meyer; a loving father to Richard (Lori) Meyer, Bobbie (Douglas) Schurr, and Dawn (Danny) Allen; a cherished stepfather to Douglas (Lisa) Schulze and Debra Schulze; and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He made every effort to be present for the moments that mattered most—weddings, graduations, and welcoming new grandbabies into the family.

In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota. An additional Celebration of Life will be held in Arizona.

The memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

May he rest in eternal peace.
