Robert Sheffield Taylor, Sr. (Bob), also known as ‘Bampy’ by his grandchildren, was born August 8, 1938 and died July 10, 2023. Bob was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed peacefully in Mesa, Arizona. He was a proud US Air Force Veteran and was married to the love of his life Judith (Judi) Lee Roth for 55 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judi, brother Delbert, and one grandson. Bob is survived by daughter, Renee Tryon, his most recent wife of 4 years Wilma (Willie) Jobst, his previous wife Christine, and their two children Robert Sheffield Taylor, Jr. & Suzanne Taylor along with six grandchildren & four great grandchildren.
Bob was a self-made man whose father died when he was nine years old. He worked hard to get an education & received a Bachelor of Science from Central Missouri University & Master’s degree from University of Oklahoma.
He served in various parts of the world for more than 20 years in the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller & retired as an Officer. After retiring from the Air Force, he sold electronic components until he retired. Bob was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many capacities, including as a Bishop. While Bob had a hard exterior at times, his heart was as soft as any, as he helped countless people & animals during his life. He will be missed by those who knew & loved him.
