Rochelle “Rocky” Mackey age 88, passed away Monday May 18, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Rocky was born to Webber Mackey and Betty Harrison Mackey on September 20, 1937. The family of three moved to Mesa Arizona in 1946. She graduated from Mesa High School in 1955 and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Arizona State University in 1959. Rocky was a member of ASU’s first graduating class, and she remained a lifelong Sun Devil fan, later retiring from the ASU Alumni Association where she worked as an international tour guide. Her career took her around the world, visiting no less than 87 countries and requiring extra pages to be added to her passport multiple times.

Rocky prioritized and cherished all her relationships and is survived by her son Ted, daughter Pam, grandchildren; Amber, Joe, Emily, Molly, Kelli, and Madison. As well as her great grandchildren; Carson, Jaxon, Juliette, Evelynn, Beau, Kennedy, and Rory.
