Ronald Arthur “RAD” Durgin, 73, passed away on April 10, 2026, surrounded by his family. A longtime resident of both Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Mesa, Arizona, Ron lived a life defined by curiosity, dedication, and a deep love for those around him. A lifelong learner and passionate advocate for education, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Syracuse University, an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Cape Cod Community College, and a Southwest Leadership Public Policy Management certificate from the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management.
Ron built a distinguished 30-year career in public service, serving in leadership roles as a Building Official and Commissioner in both Massachusetts and Arizona. He was widely respected in his field and was recognized in 2011 as “Person of the Year” by the Southern Nevada Chapter of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials. His leadership also included serving as past Chapter President of the Grand Canyon Chapter of the International Code Council and as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Building Officials. Outside of his professional life, Ron was a man of warmth, passion, and personality. He was an avid collector of baseball cards and a devoted music lover who found joy in island rhythms and a laid-back way of life. In retirement, he embraced adventure, traveling the world with his wife, soulmate, and best friend of 44 years, Christine. Together, they created lasting memories in places they loved most, including Barbados, Hawaii, and Paris.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ron held a special devotion to the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots—a love he shared deeply with his sister, Diane. In his younger years, he could often be found on the tennis or basketball court, always bringing the same energy and spirit that defined the way he lived. Above all, Ron cherished his role as a husband, father, brother, and grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Christine Durgin; his son, Christopher Durgin, his wife Kaylin, and their son Cade; his daughters, Dale McCormack and Leslie McCormack; his grandson, Aidan McFadden; and his sisters, Sharon Durgin-Campbell and Diane Durgin. He was predeceased by his biological father, Arthur Morin; his mother, Rita Durgin; and his father, William Durgin.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ron’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Ron will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
