Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Rose M. Gorham

July 10, 1940 – December 5, 2020

Rose M. Gorham, 80, passed away on December 5, 2020 at Banner Baywood Hospital. Rosie was born on July 10, 1940 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Phillip and Florence Urioste. She was the oldest sister of two brothers, Phillip and Mark and her sister Dorothy (Dotty) Urioste.

At the age of 1, the family moved to a small community in Ray, AZ. The family lived in Ray for 10 years. The family moved to Superior AZ, Rosie was at the age of 11.  As she was growing up Rosie took care of her brothers and her sister. She was like a second mother to them. Rosie attained her high school diploma at Superior High School, and began to pursue her associate’s degree at ASU. Soon after, she met her husband Daniel (Danny) Gorham and had moved to Tempe, AZ. Then they bought their first home in Apache Junction in 1963 and have lived there until present time. They were married for over 50 years before Danny had passed away.

Rosie worked at Motorola. She began as an assembly worker and worked her way up to a Line Supervisor before she retired in the early 90’s. Rosie was a hard worker and many were inspired by her diligence and of her leadership roles she had played. When Rosie wasn’t working at Motorola she was busy taking care of her brother Mark and her sister Dotty. She and Danny would take them on drives around town in Tempe, AZ.

Rosie and Danny were the center of their family. They loved taking care of their nieces and nephews; they took immense pride in raising all of the children in their family and their friends’ children, etc. They were looked at as a second mom and dad. Their true happiest moments were giving baby baths in their kitchen sink. Rosie and Danny did so many things together. Their memorable moments were playing softball. Danny was the coach and Rosie played the positions of second base and shortstop. What a team they were! They brought home so many Champion trophies. Their teams were called Hall Brake and Dedications. Both Rosie and Danny also loved traveling. They traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, back East, and all over the United States.

If there was one word to describe Rosie it would be that she was a fighter. She was a very strong, independent person. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for her family; she never would discriminate or judge a person even if they were bad or good. Her resolve is without question.

Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Danny, Parents Phillip and Florence, and her sister Dotty.

Rosie is survived by her brothers Phillip and Mark, nieces and nephews, family and friends, and was a second mother to her nephew James, and her nieces, Dawn and Marina (Rina).

She has impacted and played a huge part in the lives she has touched. Rosie will be greatly missed.

There will be a Visitation Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10 am, followed by the Service at 11 am, at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85207.

Rosie was a wonderful friend who enjoyed getting together with friends & family. My earliest recollections of Rosie & Danny were when I was 15, I was busing tables at my mother’s restaurant. Rosie & Danny were customers at Elvira’s Restaurant my mom Elvira would babysit Rosie when she lived in Ray/Sonora. I have many good memories with Rosie & Danny. When my husband & I first started dating we went out to dinner many times with Rosie & Danny. They reassured my parents that my husband was a good man from a good family & would make an excellent husband. She is now reunited with the love of her life, Danny. May she rest in God’s arms. We will miss you Rosie! Our condolences to your family.
