Roy Irvin Hetland, 92 of Surprise, Arizona passed away peacefully Friday April 1, 2011 in Surprise, Arizona. Roy was born May 16, 1918 in Fertile, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife Joanne and son Richard. He was  survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Janis Hetland and grandchildren: Janel Hadfield and her husband Laurence; Heather Atwood and her husband Jeff, Jessie Hetland and Nick Hetland and great-grandchildren Alex Hadfield and Luke and Hailey Atwood. Roy served his country proudly in the Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and retired from Midwest Motor Express after 30 years of service. He and Joanne moved to Arizona and enjoyed many years of travel and golf together. He led a full life and was looking forward to being together with Joanne again. Roy’s life will be celebrated at 1pm Tuesday, April 5th, with a graveside service at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 7900 E Main St, Mesa, AZ. In Lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice of the Valley, Surprise, AZ, is encouraged.
