Roy Wendell Hudson

Passed Away on March 9, 2017


Roy Wendell Hudson, 91, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017 in Mesa, Arizona at Mama’s Care Assisted Living.

Roy was born and raised in Shelbyville, Illinois, on October 23, 1925.  He attended Dugout Elementary School and Shelbyville High School.  Roy resided in Shelbyville until 1960 when he moved to Apache Junction, Arizona.

Roy was an active leader in the Apache Junction community.  He was a member of the Apache Junction School Board and a past commander of the American Legion.  Roy was named the first Mayor of Apache Junction and was also a Pinal County Supervisor.  He was a proud Arizona Representative for Pinal County and worked for Arizona Public Services and Apache Junction Schools.  Also, he served in the US Marine Corp during World War II.  Pinal County named the Pinal County Court Complex, in Apache Junction, after him.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Edith Hudson.  He is survived by his wife, Norma Hudson, daughters Sandra (Chuck) Paul, Phyllis (Mike) Wolfe, son, Roy W. Hudson Jr., brother, Harry (Nancy) Hudson, seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and his loving nieces, nephews and other family members/

The family would like to thank Mama’s Care Assisted Living and Reflections Hospice for the excellent care they gave to our Father.

Mountain View Funeral home handled the arrangements for Roy and the service was held privately by the family.
