Our papa had a presence that could light up any room. He was so charismatic, so charming, and always knew how to make us laugh. Being around him felt like home. He taught us what love and acceptance truly look like, not just in words but in how he lived every day.

I will always hold close the way he loved me so fully, never once making me feel like anything less than his own. That kind of love is rare, and I will cherish it for the rest of my life.

Papa, you will be so deeply missed, more than words can ever express. I hope you are at peace now. We love you always.

I lost my own father many years before I met Ross. Even as an “ex-inlaw” he and Norma always welcomed my family and me to their home no matter what the occasion. He was the quiet male figure in the midst of so many Latinas, and I think my husband may miss that most of all. Ross’ cooking was legendary and his BBQ ribs convinced our son that being a vegetarian was not a great choice. Ross bounced back from so many health scares that I was convinced he’d be around forever. He was a terrific grandfather and great-grandfather who came to every game, match, competition and event possible. I feel very lucky to be counted as one of his kids. He will be missed!
