Russell “Jake” Jacobson of Freeland, WA passed away on May 17, 2011 at the age of 91. He was the son of Erick and Norge Jacobson. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Ray, Lowell, Ernie, and Maurice. He is survived by his wife Martha, his son Bruce, his grandson Duncan, and nephews Richard and Dennis. “Jake” met the love of his life Martha (Cooper) in 1941 and they were married on March 20, 1942. They made their home on Whidbey Island, WA for the last 66 years enjoying fishing, golfing, woodworking, and the beautiful nature of the island. “Jake” enlisted in the Navy in 1938 as a Seaman and retired 271/2 years later as a Full Commander. He participated in WWII (Pearl Harbor survivor) and the Korean War. “Jake” worked in the Seattle Fire Dept. for 24 years and retired a Senior Division Chief. He was involved in many other activities including Masonic Order, real estate, teaching, American Legion, Kiwanis, fishing, and dancing. He will be missed by many.
