Passed Away on May 26, 2014


Ruth Ann Peake, age 75, formerly of Wellsboro, PA passed away on May 26, 2014 in Mesa, AZ of chronic illnesses. She was born June 20, 1938 to Elijah and Ester Peake who preceded her in death. After graduating from Wellsboro High School in 1956 she continued on to St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Elmira, NY graduating in 1959. She then worked in W. Palm Beach, FL and Burlingame, CA advancing her nursing career. In 1966 Ruth joined the USAF and was assigned to various AF medical facilities worldwide for 20 years retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. In 1968 one of Ruth’s AF highlights was caring for General Dwight D. Eisenhower twice while stationed at March AFB, CA. She retired to the Phoenix, AZ area and was active in various garden clubs both local and nationally. Her funeral will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church followed by interment with military honors at Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Inc. in Wellsboro, PA.
