Ruth G Keilholtz, 96, of Mesa, AZ passed away October 6, 2021. Ruth and Ruba Glass, identical twins, were born on March 28, 1935, in Lee County, VA to Ewing Ray and Mattye A. Flanary Glass. They lived in Lee County until the age of 10 when the family moved to a farm near Emmitsburg, MD. The girls had been homeschooled by their mother, a former teacher, until they moved.  Their new school was small enough that Ruth and Ruba were in the same classrooms. Ruth said that the teachers could not tell them apart and informed their parents that both girls would receive the same grades. Ruth and Ruba were very close. They enjoyed dressing alike and dancing together.  They would practice together at home and had no problem dancing together in public. The girls planned to become beauticians and open a shop together. Then one day while waiting for the bus to school, Ruth saw a young man drive by. Ruth went home and told her mom, she saw the man she was going to marry.

Ruth met Lloyd G Keilholtz and they were married on October 18, 1945. After Lloyd was discharged from the army on November 29, 1946, they moved to Hyattsville, MD.  Lloyd became a driver and Ruth a financial clerk. They lived in Maryland and traveled throughout the United States on their vacations. They were impressed with the Phoenix, AZ area. After one particularly bad snowstorm in Maryland, Ruth declared she would not shovel snow again. They retired and moved to Apache Wells in 1979, then to Sunland Village.  Ruth enjoyed cooking, sewing and square dancing. She made many of her own clothes.  She also sewed square dancing costumes for herself and matching shirts for Lloyd. She always kept a journal about their day to day lives and their many vacations. Lloyd died on May 28, 2018. Ruba died within 6 months and Ruth mourned both every day.

Ruth will be dearly missed by several cousins and nieces and nephews.  In Lieu of flowers, please donate to a local or state Wounded Warriors.
