Ruth Hauenstein, 98 of Mesa, AZ passed away May 2, 2010 in Mesa. Mrs. Hauenstein was born Ruth Agnes Weltmer in rural Rush Center Kansas. She is survived by her sister (Maxine Maresch), granddaughter Kimberly S. Lowande (William), grandsons Howard B. James III and Mark E. James (Linda), great grandchildren (Ashleigh, Meghan, Lauren, Carly, and Joshua) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn Jean Hauenstein James and her husband Edward Oscar Hauenstein. Ruth settled in the East Valley in the early 1930s where she and Edward worked for many years farming cotton. She was passionate about roses, was a 40+ year member of the Mesa East Valley Rose Society and was recently honored for her significant contributions to the proliferation of the rose gardens at the Mesa Community College. Ruth’s memorial service will be on May 8, 10:30 am at Central Christian Church, 933 N. Lindsay Rd, Mesa. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
