Ruth Hulse, 97, of Mesa, Arizona died Sunday, June 21, 2020 at The Citadel Senior Living Center in Mesa, Arizona.  She had resided at The Citadel for the past 13 years and received excellent care.

She was born on October 11, 1922 in Pella, Iowa to Conrad and Elizabeth (DeJong) Leydens.  As a child, she moved with her family to Newton, Iowa where she graduated from high school.   Ruth moved to California where she married Donald M. Hulse on February 19, 1944.  They resided there while Don served in the United States Air Force.  Following his discharge, they returned to Pella, Iowa and then lived in Newton, Iowa before moving to Wichita, Kansas in 1960.  Ruth worked in accounting for the Claco company in Wichita.  She later joined her husband working for the Vernon Company until retiring.  After retirement they moved to Apache Junction, Arizona.  Don preceded her in death on November 26, 2002.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wichita.  She was an avid golfer and bridge player.  She enjoyed doing arts and crafts.  One of her favorite things to do was spend time with her daughters at her daughter’s house in the mountains of Williams, Arizona.

Survivors:

Two daughters – Donna Scoggins and her husband Jesse of Parsons, Kansas

Melanie James and her husband David of Tempe, Arizona

Six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren

Two brothers – John Leydens        West Des Moines, Iowa

Frank Leydens        Aurora, Colorado

One Sister – Nell Riley                    Clive, Iowa

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2020 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, 7900 E Main St., Mesa, Arizona.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Hospice of the West in Phoenix, Arizona.  Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, Kansas 67357.
