Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Sandra Jean McCulley

May 26, 1957 – July 3, 2022

Sandra Jean McCulley ( Sandy Roth)

Beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt was born May 26,1957 to Virgil and Joan Roth in Riverside, California. They moved to Arizona two years later with her older brother David. Sandy lived in various places in Arizona as her father worked as a truck driver. As a child, her family included two sisters (Carol and Kathy) along with her brother. They lived in Flagstaff, Tucson, Phoenix, and even on the Navajo reservation for a time. After her parents separated, her mom settled in Chandler where she attended Chandler High School graduating in 1975. She began working at the Chandler A.J.Bayless in ‘74 where she was a cashier. She later transferred to a Tempe store on Apache Blvd.

In October of 1977 Sandy, on a whim, decided to go to a Jackson Browne concert in Arcosanti, AZ. where a Bayless associate and acquaintance, Rawley McCulley, was also attending. A chance meeting changed the trajectory of both their lives. They married in April of 1980. Their son Joshua McCulley, the apple of her eye, was born in December of 1981. Sandy worked various jobs working her schedule around her family. She settled on a sewing job in which she made draperies.

Sewing and fabric were an interest she would continue in for the rest of her life. Her final employer was JOANN fabrics where she worked over 10 years helping customers. Helping was always a part of her nature. Sandy was also an integral partner in helping Rawley with the bakery distribution business. She stepped in to help whenever called upon.

The McCulley family enjoyed traveling and camping in their RV when possible. They enjoyed northern AZ. in the summer with a favorite destination of Hawley Lake. Sandy also loved the ocean. She took many trips to San Diego, where her brother lives, as well as a couple of Hawaiian vacations. Sandy knew Christ as her savior and had attended three different congregations over the years as an adult.

With great sadness and much too soon, but in God’s timing, she passed into the next life with family all around and husband at her side. She leaves behind her husband Rawley, son Josh and his wife Leah, brother David and husband Bill Adair, sisters Carol Roth and Kathy Cook and her partner Bob Cox, sister in-law Monica McFarlane and husband Bart, nephew Jeff Roth and wife Sarah, nieces Jenny Bingham and husband Chris, Kim DeVries and husband Danny, Nephew Brian McFarlane and wife Diana, as well as great nieces and nephews and many work associates and friends.

Services for Sandy’s celebration of life will be 12:00 pm at Bueler Mortuary in Chandler. Urn placement will be 2:00 pm at Mountain View Mortuary in Mesa. Guests are welcome at 3:00 pm at Cox/Cook residence.

Donations are excepted in her name at http:// main.acsevents.org/goto/Sandy-McCulley in lieu of flowers.
