Born Shanda Joy Thompson, she was raised in Mesa, Arizona and continued to reside there until her passing. She was the youngest of four siblings, with 3 older brothers.

Shanda truly was a “Joy” to be around as she always had a smile on her face, a story to tell and laughter that could fill a room. Shanda was best known for her compassionate heart toward animals, love for her family and friends and her childlike spirit.

In 2010, Shanda was baptized in a small, private ceremony and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Ms. Maynard is preceded in death by her late husband Jim Maynard, loving partner Gus Munoz, brother Craig Thompson, mother Delores Tidd & father James  Thompson.

Shanda is survived by her brothers Richard & Gilpin Thompson, nieces Melissa Holloway (Thompson) & Taryn Luck (Thompson), nephew Dustin Thompson and her 3 Chihuahuas Chula, ChaCha and Nunya.

Services for Shanda Joy will be held at the Central Christian Church Chapel at 933 N. Lindsay Rd, Mesa, AZ 85213 on Monday, October 16th at 4pm.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made on Shanda’s behalf to the Valley Humane Society of Casa Grande to help pets in need.
