Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Shirley Jean (Loomis) Lay

July 9, 1938 – February 18, 2021

Shirley Jean (Loomis) Lay, born July 9, 1938 went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2021.

She is survived by her children Nathan Lay, Tony Freeman, and Gayla Wilkins, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She attended Lighthouse Church in Apache Junction, Pastor Nathan Akers.

As a teenager she had many talents.  She took classes at the original Fred Astaire Dance Studio and was a participant in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA on two different occasions, one as a majorette and the other as a Tournament of Roses Parade Princess.

She also sang at the Hollywood Bowl in her acapella high school choir.

She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing songs by Christian Artist, Sandy Patty.

Some of her favorite songs were “His Eye is on the Sparrow” and “O Holy Night”.

When she was 15 years old she received the Holy Spirit at youth camp in Frazier Park, CA and was baptized in Bellflower, CA by Rev. Sam White.

When she graduated from High School she attended Western Apostolic Bible College in Stockton, CA

In her early adult life she was an evangelist’s and pastor’s wife.

She had a love for the Lord and we will really miss her.

One day soon the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ will rise first, then we which are alive and remain will be caught up to meet Jesus in the air to forever be with the Lord.

PS. We will meet you on Heaven’s Golden Avenue!

Graveside service for Shirley will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 26, 2021 at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 7900 E Main St, Mesa, Arizona 85207.
