Sue (Spitler) Hinshaw

Passed Away on July 8, 2017


Sue (Spitler) Hinshaw, 79, of Mesa passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on July 8, 2017 after having suffered a serious illness and infection.  Sue was born in Richmond, Indiana on July 24, 1937, but was raised on a farm near Eaton, Ohio.  She and her family moved to Mesa in 1947. She attended the old Mesa High School and was a proud Jackrabbit, attending many class reunions.  She graduated in 1955 and married Patrick Hinshaw the same year.  They were married 61 years.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick of Mesa; daughter, Patti Olson of Mesa; and daughter, Paula Hinshaw (Wendy) of Phoenix.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Opal Spitler, and also her daughter, Kitten Hinshaw.  She has three grandsons Stuart, Jakob, and Patrick and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Carol House of Mesa and Sharon Lewis of Big Fork, Montana and her brother, Ron Spitler of Mesa.

Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery in Mesa at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 15.  Visitation will be the same day starting at 10:00 am.  Casual attire is welcome.

Sue was known for her loving heart, generosity, and charitable nature.  In honor of that, the family asks that you consider making a donation to your favorite charity in her memory in lieu of flowers.
