Theodora “Thea” G. Dean, was born April 15, 1928 in Stamford, Connecticut, and was a longtime resident of Great Falls, VA. As a young woman, Thea attended Emma Willard School in Troy, New York and Rochester University. She married the boy next door, Jonathan “Jock” Dean, in 1950 and lovingly raised five children in an adventure across continents, elegantly hosting diplomatic events on postings with the Foreign Service in Limburg, Prague, the Belgian Congo, Bonn and Vienna. Thea embraced family, friends, acquaintances, and all she encountered with warmth, love and compassion. She loved and cherished the natural world as well, and was famous for her fondness of pigs. Those fortunate to know Thea were touched by her selfless generosity and infectious sense of humor, gifts they carry forever from this courageous, extraordinary woman. Thea is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Jonathan Dean, their five children, and eight grandchildren.
