Ted Friedrich, age 89, of Mesa, AZ, died Sunday, July 28th, 2024.
Ted was born on June 5, 1935, in Opole, MN, the son of Theodore and Celia (Beam) Friedrich. He grew up and went to school in Holdingford, MN. At a young age he went to work on the ore boats, drove truck for Nash Finch and completed his GED. In 1959, he started working with NSP as a groundman in St. Cloud and transferred to Glenwood, MN as an apprentice lineman in 1962. He continued to work for NSP until his retirement in 1992. He loved his 33 years with the company. In addition to his work at NSP, he joined the Army National Guard in 1966 and rose to the rank of tanker sergeant. In August 1956 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Pallies. They made their home in Glenwood, MN until her death in April 1983. Ted was then united in marriage to Eileen Mooney in January 2000. Ted was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood, MN and then a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ. He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, camping, or riding snowmobiles. He was a fishing guide for 20 years, flew planes, gardened, and loved working in his wood shop. He also enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife Eileen, daughter Cindy (Steve) Anderson, daughter-in-law Dawn Friedrich, sons Mike (Cheri) Friedrich and Joe (Lisa) Friedrich, sister Darlene Hiscock, grandchildren Brett (Mel) Anderson, Ryan (Mal) Anderson, Annalise (Ryan) Edquist, Amanda (Zach) Keller, Annie Friedrich, Jack Friedrich, Megan (Lane) Masters, Emily (Max) Kollar, Lizzy Friedrich, as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Celia, wife Bonnie, daughter Mari, son Scott and siblings Henry, George, David, and Jeanette.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 8th, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by the funeral services at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church,122 1st St NW, Glenwood, MN 56334. Interment will be immediately following the service at Calvary Cemetery. There will also be a service on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, at 11:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 1534 N Recker Rd, Mesa, AZ 85205.
Ted will be greatly missed. He loved to share his Ole and Lena jokes and his guitar playing attempts, and as you all know he loved a good bargain and was up for a trip to the flea market or garage sale anytime. Ted loved being with people, especially for a fish fry. He will certainly leave a legacy of fond lasting memories.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ted can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a cause close to his heart.
