Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Travis Jerome (TJ) Moncur

August 19, 1980 – November 24, 2021

Travis Jerome (TJ) Moncur was born August 19, 1980 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Douglas and Judy Moncur.  He was the youngest, yet biggest, of 3 brothers (Scot & Jason). Travis spent his first 9 years in Minnesota enjoying the snow and cold. His parents then moved to Mesa Arizona where he spent the remainder of his life.  After graduating from Mesa High School, Travis caught the travel bug and began his journey making friends wherever he went.  TJ spent time living, working, and playing in central California, Montana, and England when his parents were transferred there for work.  He took advantage of that time to see as many places and create as many memories as he could.  During that time he found a love of photography and passion for music. He used that talent and love of music to provide some of the funnest dance venues on the east side of the phoenix valley.  Putting on these dances and parties brought TJ as much joy, if not more, than the thousands of people who attended them.

TJ had a large group of friends as extended family.  He was a very devout dog dad to his doodles, Hurley and then Charlie, and all his doodle families.  His dogs were his life. They went almost everywhere he could take them with him.  He also loved his nieces and nephews very much and spending time with them we he could.  He thoroughly enjoyed his late night, 2 in the morning calls to his niece Jenilyn.  He also enjoyed his off road adventures with his nephews, his FaceTime calls with his great-nieces and great-nephew, and most of all, time that he spent with his mom and dad.  He treasured his friends dearly, often spending time with at the dog park with the doodles, going on last minute dinner runs, or just being there for a friend in need, be it in California, Washington or Arizona.  If you had a fond memory of Travis, it would probably include a trip, a dance, eating, doodles at the dog park, or long talks or debates via phone, social media and in texts.

Travis was first diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy when he was 30 years old and spent the next 11 years in and out of hospital to help him continue to live a good life.  Over time, his heart just wasn’t strong enough to carry this giant of a son, brother, uncle or friend any longer.  Travis’ heart beat for the last time due to heart failure on November 24, 2021 and left a hole in our hearts that will be hard to fill and last a very long time.

Travis, TJ, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend, you are loved and will be deeply missed.

I met Travis on the doodle site. Unfortunately we never had the opportunity to meet in person but I would still call him a friend. We would chat about doodles and our love to cook. We didn’t speak often but when we did it was always a great time. R.I.P.
