I am heartbroken to announce the death of my husband, Travis Jones. He passed away at Honor Health Scottsdale Hospital on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 10:25 a.m. Mountain Standard time.  Travis courageously persevered the challenges and complications of cancer. I was honored to be at his side as he passed away. My husband loved telling his favorite silly jokes. A loving father, husband and Papa.  He leaves behind sons; Jonathan, Brandon, and Lance and daughter Adrienne and between all our children he has a total of 14 grandchildren, who he loved and adored.  Travis was a Papa to any child who he met.

Travis Ray Jones, 71, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ in Scottsdale, AZ with his Wife by his side on August 20, 2022, at 10:25 am Mountain Standard time. Travis was born in Mesa, AZ, the son of the late Peggy Franks and W.C. Jones. He was the oldest of twelve siblings, ten brothers and two sisters.

Travis was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps; from February 1977 to February 1983. Travis’s duties included Tank Crewman, Police Sergeant, and a Marksmanship Instructor. He received a Good Conduct Certificate, Pistol, and Rifle Marksmanship badge. Travis continued to serve his county in the United States Army Reserves from January 1987 to January 1989. Travis was a proud American Patriot. Ooh Rah! Semper Fidelis!

Travis worked for the City of Mesa as a Sanitation Engineer for 24 years from April 1981 to June 2005.

On January 27, 1990, he married Valle Ree Markwell, in Mesa, AZ. He and Valle blended their children of three boys and one girl. Jonathan, Brandon, Lance, and Adrienne. Between all their children they have a total of 14 Grandchildren. Travis! Papa loved and adored all his baby girls and big boys.

Travis was strong in his faith. Baptized on May 11, 1991, at Sunshine Acres Children’s Home where he lived as a child from 1963 to 1969. Travis believed God is Good and the source of his determination and strength to carry him through a 10-year cancer journey.

Travis was a Husband, Dad, Papa, Uncle, and a friend to everyone. He will be deeply missed.
